Boredom and Airports, Boredom and Airports…

Good day,

Sitting here in a somewhat barren airport in Managua, Nicaragua just past midnight. Has it really been almost 3 months since I was last here flying to the Corn Islands? Where doe time go? Airports are filthy places filled with bacteria and potentially diseased derelicts, it’s true. I met some people from Little Corn who I chose not to associate with then and wondering why I changed my mind now!?

The photo above was taken 1.3235 minutes ago in Managua, that little coffee shop is your best bet here and they have wifi so if you’re ever stuck, just head here. Not sure why we’re posting this photo of people looking bored and drinking coffee, but maybe it’s because I’m bored and refuse to drink coffee because it throws your alpha waves out the window and ushers in beta waves which are great for basic tasks completely devoid of creativity!?

Who cares, just know that boredom and airports go together like two peas in a poverty stricken pod.

Tips hat,

  1. That airport does look dark and shabby. So how many hours were you stuck in there? You’re lucky they had wifi to keep you sane.

  2. God I hate airports. I once had to spend the night there because I missed my flight, and damn, it was a long night. 13 excruciating hours of watching the clock, refreshing my Facebook feed, looking for something exciting to comment.

Next time i will definitely fork out the hundred dollars for a hotel. My sanity depends on it!

    1. I hear you, it’s long. After a while you get into a zen like state and just accept it. I’ve always been tempted for a hotel but never pulled the trigger. It’s that “Frugal Frank” in me that just can’t do it!

  3. That’s SO true, airports have the incredibly skill of killing any creativity and similar.
Once I was stucked in Belgium cause of the snow and the only way to save my brain was trying to draw on a piece of paper the people around me.

    LOVE TRAVELLING, BUT HATE AIRPORTS!

    1. It’s a necessary evil to get around the world. Whenever I get *really bored* I just think of how slow the alternative is. Until someone develops a teleporter, it’s the best we have.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. This story reminds me of an 8 hour layover I unfortunately have to look forward to at Sheremetyevo International Airport en route to Venice. Thought we could tour Red Square during this time, however the transit visa for this adventure is costly. Also, they say you can get stuck in Moscow traffic anywhere from 2-6 hours, scary! Not sure how entertaining this airport is, but there’s a nearby hotel if anything. Guess we’ll see how tolerant we are with waiting once we get there, LOL! All in a day’s journey.

  5. Boredom is a luxury. Why didn’t you replace a burnt out lightbulb or grab a mop and clean the floor or teach aerobics to those equally bored people or give them free massage or ask them to give you free massage, refill their drinks or learn their culture or just sit in the middle of the coffee shop and meditate? Oooohmmmmmmmmm NAMASTE!
