Greetings,
The time is 5:30am and we’re waiting to board the ferry that concludes our time on Vancouver Island and bring us on a 16 hour journey to Prince Rupert. The island was great times but sadly, all things even the most egregious must come to an end. The video above is a time lapse from Ucluelet to Tofino or half way there. This is the footage I was copying from the camera at the surf shop before we lost everything. We cut the transfer off half way as it was surf time but it will do for this summer Saturday.
This video should give you an idea of what it’s like driving on the island, old growth forests line the highways.
The ferry is 16 hours and there is no wifi and intermittent cell service. There are two videos that will hopefully upload from Prince Rupert as I’ve seen these monster files get to 90%+ several times now all to have a soul destroying upload error. Naturally I’d make them smaller but for some reason when I load big projects in Windows Live Movie Maker, it just crashes, great. The videos that will hopefully be coming soon cover our trip from Campbell River to Alert Bay as well as our day whale watching in Telegraph Cove.
It’s basically two weeks into this trip, where does time go!?
I’m here with the Explore BC Project, to learn more visit the and look up .
All aboard!
Tips hat,
In modern usage “egregious” means outstandingly bad; shocking? Was your time on Vancouver Island really that horrible?
I use the archaic term throughout this blog as it means distinguished. It also can mean remarkably good and comes from the word gregarious which I most certainly am.
Tips hat,
Another day, another time lapse video! I like the sped-up driving, now you just need some fun getaway music to overlay.
Thanks for bringing us along your next leg of the journey. 🙂
Peace
Pleasure and I’m just getting going. Managed to upload one of the videos this morning and tried another time lapse last night.
Glad you’re enjoying the trip, I’m having a great time!
All great stuff, have lots of fun or lots of sleep (whichever is needed more ha-ha) on your 16 hr technology free ferry ride. Good luck with the videos!
I slept like a rock for most of the first part, just what I needed!
Love the time lapse, especially the freestyle posing at the beginning… and who’s the impatient driver… you or Brendan? lol! Looking forward to seeing the whale watching video. Did you see an Orca? Hope you are enjoying your 16 hour journey. Thanks to you, I now have Vancouver Island on my travel list!
Brendan was driving but it looks different when in time lapse, it was actually a slow laid back drive.
It’s a cool place, glad I for to explore it so thoroughly.
When I commented on impatient driving, I was referring to the number of cars you passed in the video. (not the time lapse silly)
Ha, yeah we were cruising but they were driving like we were on safari. Campers are the worst and notorious for being super slow.
I just came back from the island and it was amazing! I’ve seen rain forests for the first time in my life (I’m a big city European girl), we went hiking and rock climbing as well. I must say the Vancouver Island rocks! Me an my friend were looking for some thrilling experience while we were in Canada and we came across a pretty good Vancouver Island guide so we boarded a ferry and went there. I really recommend it to everyone. You have beaches, forests, shops, marinas – everything there. And as long as you live in Vancouver it takes you literally no time to get there. Great great place 🙂
