It’s my distinguished honor to introduce to you iyashinoshigoto’s newest writer who will be covering “Solo Female Travel“.  She is being very humble in this introduction and has done a lot of incredible things. Without further delay, meet Larissa…

Salutations iyashinoshigoto readers,

My name is Larissa aka the Blonde Gypsy. Rob has either been kind enough or stupid enough to give me some space on this awesome blog to talk to you about my personal experience as a solo female traveler/girl who took the risk and has no regrets.

A bit hesitant at first, I have come to realize that perhaps the blogosphere could benefit hearing from another solo female traveler such as myself because, let’s face it, traveling alone is a completely different experience in many aspects depending on which sex you are. Not that one or the other is better, they both have their pros and cons, it’s just that inevitably they are both different. This is especially true when you are treading on territory where the term “equality” isn’t popular and possibly never even heard of. And at the end of the day, male or female, I think we can always learn something from each other, right?

Another realization was that this will give me an opportunity to help convey the message that everyone can do this if they want to. Stop having a boring life, that is. Rob’s doing it, I’m doing it…and you can do it, if that’s what you want. I have been asked more times than I can count “How do you get to travel so much?”…and I have answered more times than I can count “I just do it”. Like Nike. I don’t over think things and I don’t commit to things I know aren’t going to bring me happiness in the long run (like a mortgage, car payments, or bad boyfriends/friends who are boys, for example). I make decisions and I go.

Some more about me…well at this point I have lived in 4 different countries and traveled to over 50 different cities in the past 3 years alone. So I guess that makes me somewhat of a credible source for information. Originally from the U.S., my travels have taken me mostly through Europe, but I have also experienced my fair share of Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

I will go into more detail in my next post about what I have been up to since I decided to stop having a boring life, but for now just wanted to say hello and briefly introduce myself. So “tips hat” to Rob for the invitation…. I’m really looking forward to sharing my experiences on here and being a part of the iyashinoshigoto community.
