Yesterday was awesome and we went mountain biking with a distinguished / hilarious gent named Kevin at the . Calling it trails is an understatement as they’ve been working on a huge project for years now and it’s paying off. We took two runs today on “When Pigs Fly” and “Charlotte’s Web”. If you read no further; just take the Pigs Fly one, it’s easy, breezy and a clean roll aka you can just ride the whole thing without getting entangled in a web…
This place has all sorts of trails from skill building areas to casual cross-country tracks around a lake with campsites in most cool clearings. It also has a mountain aka a 6km drive from base to peak with countless trails leaving from it. A bunch of gents thought it would be cool to build trails and its morphed into something much more. If you’re racing it will probably take 10-11 minutes and that’s on the tougher one. If you’re cruising it will take a while, the trails go on and on and on in the best way possible.
It’s got terrain that will challenge 99.735% of the population. Naturally there is someone nobody has ever met who has rode everything and does double backflips where most won’t dare venture. If you’re not “that guy” you’ll find something for yourself. For instance you’re riding down a section but on the left there are logs to ride or even big jumps / drops. They’ve done a good job of making most courses open to everyone and depending on how big you want to go, you pick the appropriate line.
I used to race mountain bikes when I was 14-15 and I can tell you that I’d of died and gone to heaven had this existed in Ottawa. If you like riding bikes and you haven’t tried downhill yet, I implore you do. I always did cross country and let’s just say it’s the same as in skiing, downhill is infinitely more fun. I can see Burns Lake becoming a mountain biking mecca as the word continues spreading and they continue building.
I have a full video in the works but stay tuned but wanted to get this out, naturally.
I’m here with the Explore BC Project, to learn more visit the and look up .
P.S: Yes I cut my hand open but the injury was sustained while walking, go figure.
