White Water Rafting on the Pacuare River, Costa Rica

While I was in with the I had the distinct pleasure of white water rafting on the Pacuare River. I filmed this video and it turned out better than I had hoped for. I`m new to this whole `video game`and by no means consider myself an editor in any stretch of the sense. We battled Class III & IV rapids with ease and grace or so I say to save face.

If you`re thinking of doing something like this, I recommend it. It wasn`t that difficult but it was a lot of fun. If you really want to get “wet and wild”, I suggest you visit mid- late October as that is the full brunt of rainy season. You`ll see rocks on the side normally but when the river is running full it`s a whole new experience, supposedly. I`m still in Costa Rica and I now know why late October is the deadest time of the year for tourism, it`s POURING here on the Osa Peninsula.

Naturally that pouring would make for poor vacation photos but an epic trip down the Pacuare River…

Oh yeah, I wrote about the experience here and here earlier if you`d like to know more.

Tips hat,

P.S: You can see this and more videos on youtube…

Wow looks like a good time ! I like the back flip off the raft, I was also waiting for the fishing rod to come out at some point… maybe a piranha ?? Also notice all the rocks on either side must get really crazy in peak times !You can see just how big this river can get …. Anywho keep making us rethink are way of life..

Guide said it’s a different beast mid-late October aka right now. The expression raining buckets has new meaning, sorta.

I’ll keep proclaiming iyashinoshigoto and it’s cool here, a slice of blargh life.

A worthwhile and memorable trip, many people don’t do the second day of rafting which is what the video is from. The Pacuare Lodge is worth visiting on its own right, really liked that place.

This brings back fond memories! Imagine two 25-year-old girls, a guide and pouring rain. It definitely made for an interesting 2-day whitewater rafting trip…but well worth it. Great video. If you’re in Costa Rica, it’s a must do!

Did this MANY years ago, and in the totally wrong season (the river was low and lame)! Would love to do it again. Great video!

Hi Rob I just watched the video of you white water rafting. Wow it looks like so much fun. I wish I could do things like this but I have to be careful as I have had many back surgeries but hey what the heck you only live once! I am happy for you for having the chance to enjoy traveling and doing so many things with your life. Keep going and let nothing hold you back, remember It’s YOUR Life! I had the chance many years ago to go tubing and that was fun but NOTHING like that, LOL. Thanks so much for sharing this with me I love to see how others live their life and especially get the chance to see it on U Tube. Stay in touch. Diane.

OMG. Rob, that was so fun!!

Our first white-water rafting experience was in Banos in Ecuador and it was unforgettable. It was class 4 too. You should try the waterfall rappelling, you will love it. Guaranteed!
